History Of Cocoa & Co

Cocoa & Co has been part of Cowbridge life for over 25 years, but our story began in 1992 when Mary opened Cakes for Celebrations, selling chocolates alongside her celebration cakes. In 2000, Cocoa & Co was born, expanding the chocolate range alongside ice cream and coffee. Philippa took over in 2010, continuing to grow this much-loved independent shop for the next 14 years.

New Ownership

In February 2024, Rhia took the reins, bringing her own ideas and personality to the business while building on the shop's much-loved heritage and expanding its range of gifts and treats.

Our Core

At the heart of Cocoa & Co is our beautiful chocolate cabinet, filled with over 100 varieties of Belgian chocolates. Whether you're choosing a few favourites or creating a truly personal gift, you can build your own chocolate box, selecting the flavours you love and making every box unique.

You'll find us tucked away in the gorgeous Verity's Court, one of Cowbridge's charming traditional corners, surrounded by the independent shops and character that make this Welsh market town so special. We're proud to be part of a community where shopping local still means something.

Murphy & Maeve

But there's something else that makes Cocoa & Co a little different. With a background in Animal Science at Pencoed College and Animal Behaviour at the University of Southampton, Rhia has always had a soft spot for animals. Seeing the four-legged family members who visited for their dog ice cream inspired the creation of Murphy & Maeve — our sister range of natural dog treats, unusual goodies and thoughtful gifts for dogs and their owners.

Today, Cocoa & Co is about more than chocolate. From indulgent Belgian chocolates and sweet treats to coffee, ice cream, thoughtful gifts and our ever-growing Murphy & Maeve collection, there's something for everyone — including the four-legged members of the family.

Whether you're choosing a special gift, creating your own chocolate box, treating yourself or popping in with your dog, we look forward to welcoming you. And, of course, nobody should leave without a little treat!
